Estrada surrenders to CIDG

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Jinggoy Estrada on Monday surrendered to a team of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group agents who went to the Senate shortly after the Sandiganbayan issued a warrant for the senator’s arrest for plunder. “I stand my ground because what is at stake here is the independence of the Senate. It must remain free from political coercion,” Estrada said in a press briefing.
