New bear attack leaves 4 hurt in Japan
TOKYO — A bear injured at least four people in a residential area in Japan on Tuesday, the latest case of an attack by the mammals in an area of the country where they have increasingly encroached on the human population in recent years. Japan's Environment Ministry said 13 people were killed in more than 230 bear attacks in 2025, exceeding the number of deaths and attacks in any preceding year.
