DTI: Business name registrations up in May

BUSINESS name registrations grew by 19.69 percent in May, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said on Thursday. Data from the DTI’s Business Registration System showed 79,165 business names were filed last month, up from 66,144 in May 2025. Of the total, 70,750 were new registrations, while 8,415 were renewals. Majority of business names at 70,112 were registered online, while hybrid registrations totaled 8,142. Wholesale and retail trade accounted for majority of the registrations
