Eala pockets P2 million in Birmingham Open conquest
Filipino tennis hotshot Alex Eala bagged $33,650, roughly P2 million, after ruling the WTA 125 Birmingham Open in England Sunday evening (Manila time). Eala defeated Czech Nikola Bartunkova in the final, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5, to claim her first professional grass court title and second WTA Tour championship after topping the Guadalajara 125 in September last year. Eala also ended the 'Czech Curse' with the win, finally beating an opponent from the Czech Republic in 14 pro matches.
