Alex Eala earns P700K after first round exit in Bad Homburg singles

MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala bagged €11,309 or more than P700,000 for her first round appearance in the WTA 500 Bad Homburg in Germany. Eala fell to Elise Mertens, 3-6, 3-6, in their round of 32 match early Tuesday in Manila. Eala could still pad her earnings in the doubles play with former world No. 1 Venus Williams. The Filipino-American pair faces the Aussie-American duo of Alexandra Osborne and Catherine Harrison on Wednesday.
