The practical question is not whether AI can answer questions, but whether it can do so inside a workflow that respects customer data, employee privacy, and corporate policy.
Philippine firms should treat this as an early test of how AI vendors position trust. For everyday users, the issue is simpler but still important: convenience must not come at the cost of letting a browser know too much about their searches, purchases, and personal questions. Under the Data Privacy Act, businesses remain accountable for how personal information is collected, used, and shared, even when a third-party tool processes it. A browser assistant may see URLs, documents, form entries, or chat threads depending on permissions. That makes procurement decisions important: IT teams need to know what data leaves the device, where models run, whether enterprise controls exist, and how retention and deletion are handled. For regulated sectors such as banks, insurers, telcos, and healthcare providers, these details can determine whether a tool is usable for internal work or limited to non-sensitive tasks.
The emphasis on open models also matters because it may offer more transparency than closed systems, though openness does not automatically solve compliance. Filipino businesses should watch whether the assistant supports local language needs, integrates with common business apps, and can be managed at scale.
