Yellow alert up for Visayas on June 16
MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) raised a yellow alert for the Visayas grid on June 16, 2026 due to high demand and the unavailability of some major coal power plants. In its 8 a.m. advisory, the yellow alert will take effect between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. as peak demand was estimated to reach 2,384 megawatts (MW) with an available supply of only 2,587 MW.
